A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO “COP'S”: YOUR FIRST STEPS IN NGOA-EKELLE

Arriving on the vast campus of the University of Yaoundé I for the first time is a real adventure. To help you quickly find your bearings on the “Hill of Knowledge” and start your academic year with confidence, here are the essential tools and information you’ll need to navigate and organize your daily life.
Finding your way around Campus: locating your lecture halls
The main campus in Ngoa-Ekelle and the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) campus cover several hectares. To help you find your way around during your first few days:
  • Download the official campus map, available on the website's home page.
  • As soon as the school year begins, familiarize yourself with the main lecture hall areas: Lecture Halls 700, 702, 1001, 1002, 1003, 501, and 502; as well as the academic buildings of the faculties and the main Central Library.
Getting around: How to get to the UYI?
The campus is well-connected to Yaoundé's public transportation system:
  • Motorcycle taxis and shared taxis drop students off at the main intersections along the ring road.
  • For pedestrians, the internal pedestrian routes are safe and designed to make it easier to walk between the faculties.
Campus Safety: Useful Phone Numbers
Everyone’s safety is ensured 24 hours a day by Campus Police, the university’s security service. In the event of a medical emergency or a safety issue:
  • A permanent first-aid station is located at the main entrance to the campus.
  • The emergency numbers for Campus Security and the Medical and Social Services Center are posted on administrative bulletin boards and available on the student portal.
